Heavener cross country teams sixth at Owasso Invitational; Wolf runner medals in meet

OWASSO — Both Heavener High School cross country teams were sixth in Thursday afternoon's Owasso Invitational.
In the boys' division, the Wolves had 162 points to come in sixth. Tulsa Union won the boys' title with 45 points, followed by Owasso (53 points), Bixby (73), Tulsa Memorial (95) and Skiatook (120).
Jose Farias was Heavener's highest finisher as he was 16th (12:21), earning him a medal. Dakotah McGee was 28th (12:58), Ray Diaz was 29th (12:58), Arturo Ortego was 48th (13:57), Cesar Gonzales was 50th (14:03) and Octavio Sanchez was 55th (15:40).
The Lady Wolves were sixth with 161 points. Host Owasso won its own meet with 21 points. Bibxy was second (41 points), followed by Tulsa Union (82), Skiatook (93) and Claremore (121).
Araceli Farias had the fastest time for the Lady Wolves. She came in 28th (7:29). Kaylen Leder was 30th (7:37), Johna Enger was 32nd (7:39), Jazmin Cruz was 37th (8:08) and Caitlin Carson was 40th (9:03).
The Heavener runners will run next at the Cameron University Aggie Showdown at 8 a.m. next Saturday in Lawton.
