HEAVENER — The Heavener Wolves enjoyed back-to-back, five-win seasons in 2011 and 2012. Two stalwarts of that football team, running back Blake Smittle and lineman Aaron Turner, will get the chance to showcase their talents on the next level.
The Heavener duo signed football letters of intent with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in a ceremony witnessed by the student body, coaches and administrators in the school cafeteria.
“We're really proud of them,” said Carl Lee, Heavener's first-year coach. “They were the cornerstone for our program this year. Blake led the state in rushing this year, and Aaron was a good, all-around player for us this year. We couldn't be more happy for them and for what they've accomplished. We're looking for good things out of them in the future.”
