Heavener football team seeks second straight five-win season Friday night against Eufaula

October 31, 2012

The Heavener Wolves football team cannot make the Class 3A playoffs this year, but the Wolves can get their second five-win season and finish at .500 for the year. They were 5-6 and made the Class 2A playoffs last year.
The Wolves (4-5 overall, 2-4 in District 3A-8) will hit the road for their season finale at 7:30 p.m. Friday against the Eufaula Ironheads (1-8, 1-5).
“We talked about that [reaching .500 and five wins on Tuesday] as a matter of fact,” said Carl Lee, Heavener's first-year coach. “We're disappointed that we don't have a shot at the playoffs, but we also feel like being .500 and getting three district wins for being up a class is nothing to be ashamed of. It's a big deal, and will springboard us into the off-season and get them some initiative to work harder next year. The big goal that we're working hard this week to attain.”
To get there — Take U.S. 59 north to Sunset Corner west of Spiro. Take Oklahoma State Highway 9 west to Eufaula.
