The Heavener High School freshmen basketball teams split their games on Day 3 of the Poteau Tournament, which took place at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.
The Wolves handled the Wilburton Diggers 37-25 in Wednesday night's consolation semifinals to advance to an 11 a.m. consolation championship tilt Saturday against Spiro, which got a bye into Saturday morning's contest.
However, the news was not as good for the Lady Wolves as they were eliminated from the tournament by losing 37-16 to the Roland Lady Rangers.
With today being a day off of tournament action, Thursday was championship semifinals in both brackets. Both Poteau teams played Sallisaw, while the Muldrow boys played Roland and Muldrow girls faced Wilburton. The Poteau-Sallisaw girls winner will meet the Muldrow-Wilburton winner at 2 p.m. Saturday for the title, while the losers will play for third place at noon.
The Poteau-Sallisaw boys victor will face the Muldrow-Roland victor at 3 p.m. for the tournament championship, while the losers will square off at 1 p.m. for third place.
