Heavener girls capture Henryetta Invitational; Wolves finish in third; Poteau Pirate Invitational slated Saturday morning

HENRYETTA — The Heavener Lady Wolves cross country team won Saturday morning's Henryetta Invitational.
The Lady Wolves scored 79 points, with Quinton and Glenpool tying for second (97 points).
Two Lady Wolves finished in the top 10 — Araceli Farias was seventh (14:26) and Johna Enger was eighth (14:46). Kaylen Leder was 17th (15:23), Jazmin Cruz was 19th (15:38) and Caitlin Carson was 28th (16:50).
The Wolves were third in their meet with 89 points. Host Henryetta won its own meet with 36 points, with Glenpool runner-up (76 points).
Just as with the Lady Wolves, the Wolves had two Top 10 runners. Jose Farias was seventh (19:06) and Dakotah McGee was 10th (19:58). Arturo Ortega was 18th (21:07), Cesar Gonzalez was 22nd (21:44) and Octavio Sanchez was 32nd (23:12).
The Heavener runners will participate in the Poteau Pirate Invitational Saturday morning at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex. There will be an open 5K run beginning at 8 a.m. A fun run/walk will start at 8:05 a.m. The awards ceremony for both will begin at 8:45 a.m.
Registration will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The entry fee for each event is $20, with a limit of 50 per event.
Then, the high school cross country meets portion of the event will begin at approximately 9 a.m.
