Heavener girls lose to Purcell in state tournament quarterfinals

SHAWNEE — The Heavener Lady Wolves softball team suffered a quick exit from the Class 5A State Tournament with a 16-11 loss to the Purcell Lady Dragons on Tuesday at the Ballfields at Firelake.
The Lady Wolves had a 8-2 lead after three innings, but the Lady Dragons started the comeback with a five-run fourth inning to cut the deficit to 8-7.
After Heavener scored a run in its half of the fourth inning to make it 9-7, Purcell scored eight runs in the fifth to take the lead for good at 15-9.
