April 17, 2012

BATTIEST — The Heavener Lady Wolves split their final two games at the Battiest Spring Classic on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Broken Bow — which lost 10-9 to Heavener on Friday afternoon — after beating Buffalo Valley 15-7.
The Howe Lady Lions, the other LeFlore County team in the tournament field, lost 7-2 to the Hugo Lady Buffaloes to be eliminated from the event.
In Heavener's win over Buffalo Valley, the Lady Wolves, whose home game Monday with Hugo was canceled by the Lady Buffaloes, broke a 2-2 tie with a three-run second inning for a 5-2 lead — an advantage they never lost.
In Heavener's loss to Broken Bow, the Lady Savages scored twice in the opening inning for the only runs of the game.
In Howe's loss to Hugo, the Lady Buffaloes rallied from a 2-1 deficit with a single run in the fourth inning, four runs in the fifth inning and a single run in the sixth inning for a 7-2 lead.
