Heavener girls win district title; Wolves lose to Idabel Warriors

HEAVENER — The Heavener Lady Wolves basketball team won the Class 3A District Tournament on Friday night at the Heavener Gym, clawing the Idabel Lady Warriors 68-47.
However, the Warriors returned the favor in the boys' title game, holding off the Wolves 47-44.
Both Heavener teams will be in this week's Class 3A Regional Tournament, and will get to begin at home on Thursday. The Lady Wolves will be in the championship semifinals at 6:30 p.m. against Sequoyah-Tahlequah, with the winner not only playing for the regional title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wilburton High School Gym but will also earn a berth into next week's Class 3A Area Tournament in Checotah.
The Wolves will play a regional consolation quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Heavener Gym against Keys (Park Hill). The winner will then have to win Friday and Saturday afternoons in Wilburton to win the consolation championship and advance to next week's Class 3A Area Tournament in Checotah.
