Heavener looks to keep momentum going off Roland overtime victory; Wolves travel to face undefeated Checotah Wildcats on Friday night

October 10, 2013

If ever the Heavener Wolves football team was in need of a win, it came Friday night as the Wolves won their home opener in dramatic fashion, beating the Roland Rangers 20-14 in overtime last Friday night at Harvey Stadium.
“It was huge,” Heavener coach Carl Lee said. “It was huge from the standpoint that as much youth as we've got for them to be able to come out on top, they now feel that they can overcome anything.”
In fact, Lee uses the word, “hurdle,” to describe it.
“We figure we got over a big hurdle last week,” he said. “Now, we're going to go play at a rough place and try to win. If we can do that, that will be another stumbling block we'll be able to overcome. They're taking to the coaching, and they're doing what we're asking of them very well.”
Now, the Wolves (2-2 overall, 1-1 in District 3A-8) hope to continue the momentum from last week's thrilling win this Friday night when they travel to meet the undefeated Checotah Wildcats (5-0, 2-0) at 7:30 p.m.
