Heavener looks for second straight win in District 3A-8 opener Friday night at Valliant

September 26, 2013

The Heavener Wolves football team got its first win of the season last week in a 13-7 win over Gore, which was a lot better night than the season opener the week before in a 42-6 loss to Hartshorne.
“We played better on defense,” Heavener coach Carl Lee said about last week's win. “We still left a lot of points on their end of the field, but our defense played a lot better.”
The combination of a few more players available for the Gore game and just playing for a second straight week helped.
“We had a couple of guys back [who did not play against Hartshorne], and that helped,” Lee said. “We think we're getting the kinks ironed out.”
Now, the Wolves (1-1) will begin District 3A-8 play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Valliant.
