HEAVENER — This weekend won't be Heavener High School senior discus thrower Joseph Walker's first Class 3A State Meet. This weekend's state meet will be his second, but he's entering the best way possible. He was the regional champion in the discus at Saturday's meet in Prague.
“I really enjoyed it, getting that regional title,” said Walker, who will make one last Class 3A State Meet appearance this weekend at Moore's Lions Stadium. “I've been working for it for about five years now. That was a nerve-racking day after I made that good throw. I was just waiting on the others to get done, and all the while just hoping that I had won it. It was one of the happiest days in my track career. I feel pretty good going into the state meet.”
