Heavener soccer teams sweep county games from Poteau Tuesday night

HEAVENER — It ended up being a Heavener sweep of Poteau Tuesday at Harvey Stadium on the soccer fields. The Wolves got past the Pirates 3-2 in double overtime to seize control of the district, while the Lady Wolves blanked the Lady Pirates 2-0 in the opener.
The Pirates made up their home game with Huhgo canceled on March 27 due to storms Wednesday night at Costner Stadium. The Lady Pirates will return to action at 5 p.m. Friday at home against Porter Consolidated. Then, both teams will play their home games with Westville, which was to have been last week, on Monday at Costner Stadium, with the girls' game at 5 p.m. and the boys' contest at 7 p.m.
The Heavener teams will conclude the regular season with road games Friday at Stilwell. The girls' contest will be at 5 p.m., followed by the boys' game at 7 p.m.
