Heavener Thunder playing for regional title, state berth today; Wister Wildcats see season come to an end

July 7, 2012

HEAVENER — The Heavener Thunder OK Kids Coach-Pitch baseball team finds itself only a single win away from the 2012 OK Kids State Tournament.
The Thunder handled the Stilwell Warriors 13-4 Thursdsay night at Blues Park to advance to today's championship game at 5 p.m. today. The Thunder will play one of three teams for the title — the Warriors, the Muldrow Bulldogs or the Roland Rangers.
The Bulldogs outlasted the Wister Wildcats 20-18 on Thursday to end the ’Cats' season. The ’Dogs and the Rangers, who eliminated the Hartshorne Miners 12-11, played in the loser's-bracket semifinal Friday night, with the winner facing the Warriors immediately afterward in the loser's-bracket final. The loser's-bracket final victor must beat the Thunder twice today, in the 5 p.m. contest and the 6:30 p.m. game, to make state.
