Heavener Thunder two wins from coach-pitch state title; locals rout Tuttle Wednesday night to make winner's-bracket finals

July 12, 2012

WEATHERFORD — The Heavener Thunder found themselves a victory away from playing for the OK Kids Coach-Pitch State Tournament title game at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Thunder routed Tuttle 14-5 in four innings in Wednesday night's winner's-bracket semifinals at Rader Park to advance to Thursday night's winner's-bracket final against Morrison, which outlasted the Caddo Bruins 11-10 on Wednesday.
The Heavener-Morrison winner will play for the state title at 6 p.m. Saturday, but the loser will not be out of the state-championship hunt as they will play at 7:45 p.m. tonight in the loser's-bracket final for the chance to get to state.
The Thunder amassed the 20-hit plateau in the rout of Tuttle, with every batter in the line-up having at least one hit. Heavener scored twice in the first inning and six runs in the second inning for an 8-0 lead after two innings.
