Heavener Thunder win OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional opener; Whitesboro, Wister teams suffer losses on opening day

July 4, 2012

HEAVENER — The good news on Monday night was the Heavener Thunder, the host team for the 2012 OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional Tournament at Blues Park, won its opening-round game.
However, the not-so-good news was two other LeFlore County teams, the Whitesboro Bulldogs and the Wister Wildcats, suffered losses.
The Thunder doubled up the Hartshorme Miners 14-7 to make it to Tuesday night's winner's-bracket semifinal against the Muldrow Bulldogs, which outlasted Whitesboro 14-10. Tuesday night's winner will play in the winner's-bracket final at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The ’Cats suffered a 12-5 loss to the Stilwell Warriors, who played the Roland Rangers — a 12-6 winner over the Durant Rangers — on Tuesday night in the other winner's-bracket semifial.
Whitesboro faced Hartshorne in an elimination game Tuesday afternoon, followed by the Wildcats facing Durant in another elimination game. The winners will play in loser's-bracket quarterfinals on Thursday.
