Heavener wins scrimmage, but host Spiro dominates game-situation phase

August 30, 2011

SPIRO — This year, the opposing teams of Heavener and Spiro squared off in football purely on a scrimmage basis. Heavener is in Class 2A and Spiro is in 3A. Next year, they will be in the same district, and will face each other later in year when the stakes will be considerably larger.
Friday night's scrimmage at McClain Stadium started off with the junior varsity going on the field. Heavener started off on offense and the Wolves could not move the ball against the Bulldogs. In the first series of plays downs, the Heavener “11” staggered out of the blocks as they were only able to gain 25 yards on 12 plays.
