Heavener Wolves in playoff mode tonight against Stigler

October 25, 2013

Although the high school football playoffs don't begin until Nov. 15, they might as well begin tonight for the Heavener Wovles.
The Wolves (2-4 overall, 1-3 in District 3A-8 play) are in a must-win situation tonight when they entertain the Stigler Panthers (5-2, 3-1) at 7:30 p.m. at Harvey Stadium. If the Wolves want to keep their playoff hopes alive, a win tonight is needed.
“It's like we told the guys, it's win out from here,” Heavener coach Carl Lee said. “It's the mode we're in — we have to win out. But you go back to that Valliant game, if we make plays, we win that game. The Spiro game was the same thing. It's just been one of those deals where we haven't played bad all year long, but we're just not making plays — and that's the nature of a young team. We're playing hard and giving good effort. They just haven't figured out how to make that next big step.”
