'Heavener's best-kept secret' now living in Poteau

Jack Davis will no longer be Heavener’s best-kept secret. The former Wolf football star, who went on to play at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Arizona and later with the Denver Broncos of the old American Football League, is living in Poteau after a successful high school coaching career in California.
Davis, 78, is Heavener’s only pro football player, according to www.databaseFootball.com.
“I was actually drafted by the (Washington) Redskins, but I didn’t make the team and went back to college to get my Master’s degree,” Davis said. “There was a pro team in Tucson (Ariz.). I played for The Tucson Rattlers, and they moved to Denver and renamed the Denver Broncos.”
