Helen Pendleton

Helen Pendleton, 90, of Wister died March 1, 2014, in Poteau. She was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Henry Quellar and Maria (Jaurequi) Martinez. She was a retired certified nurses aide and cashier.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Gene Pendleton; son, Joseph Ascencio; and sister, Sara Anaya.
She was survived by two daughters, Myra Lumbley of Poteau and Anita Bailey of Wister; two sons; Richard Ascencio of Wahiawa, Hawaii, and Charles Ascencio of Munster, Ind.; sister Evangeline Richardson of Monterey, Calif.; two brothers Larry Martinez of Chicago, and Henry Martinez of Colorado; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many more family members, friends and loved ones.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, with Bro. Don Martin officiating. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. You may leave an on-line greeting to the family at www.gracemanorfh.com.
