ATOKA — The Talihina Golden Tigers came in second in this past weekend's Atoka Tournament. The Golden Tigers lost 7-2 to Asher in Saturday's title game.
Talihina got two wins on Friday, beating Atoka 11-3 and the McAlester junior varsity 10-7 to reach the title game.
Whitesboro 8, Buffalo Valley 7: Friday afternoon in Whitesboro, Quintin Ludlow's RBI single in the eighth inning lifted the Bulldogs to victory.
Morgan Nunley, who was 1-for-4, had given the ’Dogs a 7-6 lead with a two-RBI single in the sixth inning, only to see the Buffaloes tie the game in the seventh inning to force extra innings.
Howe 10, Arkoma 1; Howe 15, Bokoshe 0; Bokoshe 7, Arkoma 6: Thursday in Arkoma, the Lions (3-8) were the big winners in Thursday's three-way.
In the win over Arkoma, Howe scored the game's final nine runs to break a 1-1 tie.
In the win over Bokoshe, the Lions got a strong pitching outing from Nathan Hill, who got his first win of the season.
Everybody in the Howe line-up had at least one hit and one run batted in as the Lions broke a scoreless tie with a six-run second inning.
In Bokoshe's win over Arkoma, the Tigers used Alex Abernathy's two-out, three-run home run to break open a close game in the fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead en route to their first win of the season.
