WEBBERS FALLS — The Leflore Savages got the second half of their season off and running with a 68-38 rout of the Midway Chargers on Thursday in the opening-round of the Arkansas River Shootout.
The Savages jumped out to a 19-5 lead after a period and never looked back.
Leflore played Warner in the championship semifinals on Friday with the winner playing for the title at 8 p.m. Saturday. The loser will play for third place at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Pocola 57, Quinton 48: In Quinton, the Indians led 9-7 after a period, but had their lead cut to a single point at 19-18 at halftime.
However, the Indians outscored the Savages 17-7 in the third quarter to take a 36-25 lead into the final period.
Talihina 44, Coalgate 13; Kingston 40, Talihina 39: At Kingston New Year's Classic, Friday's consolation semifinal victory over Coalgate was the first of the season for the Golden Tigers after losing their tournament opener on Thursday.
Talihina will play the Tishomingo-Rock Creek winner at 2 p.m. Saturday for the consolation championship.
Editor's Note: Panama's game at McCurtain did not take place because McCurtain's gym did not have water. The game has been tentatively rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. next Friday.
