High School Softball Roundup

September 9, 2011

HOWE — The Howe Lady Lions had no problems with the visiting Battiest Lady Panthers as they run ruled them 12-1 in four innings Tuesday afternoon.
Panola 15, Whitesboro 9; Panola 13, Whitesboro 1: Tuesday in Whitesboro, the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-8 on the season after losing both games of the doubleheader.
McCurtain 15, Howe 12; McCurtain 16, Howe 9: Friday in Howe, the Lady Bulldogs took a pair of games from the Lady Lions, whose game Thursday at home against Spiro was canceled due to water problems — and it will not be rescheduled.
Editor's Note — Cameron's Thursday home game with Keota and this afternoon's home game against McCurtain are canceled because of lack of players.
Correction
In Thursday's edition, a Heavener softball player was misidentified in the high school softball roundup story. Savannah Steelman was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a run batted in for the Lady Wolves in their win over Smithville Tuesday afternoon.
The Poteau Daily News regrets the error.
