MUSKOGEE — Although it may have been a slow start for the Poteau Lady Pirates after winning their fourth straight LeFlore County Slow-Pitch Tournament Thursday night, they finished strong as they rallied to down the Norman Lady Tigers 4-3 in the Muskogee Festival Friday afternoon.
But in their second game, the Moore Lady Lions were too much for the Lady Pirates, posting a 17-9 victory.
Down 3-1 to Norman, the Lady Pirates scored the last three runs of the game to get the victory.
In the loss to Moore, the Lady Pirates, who were down 12-0 after an inning, scored eight runs in the second inning, highlighted by King's three-run home run, to trail 12-8. But they got no closer.
Heavener 10, Broken Bow 9; Wright City 14, Heavener 11; Eagletown 14, Howe 2: In Battiest Spring Festival, the Lady Wolves will play in the loser's-bracket quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m. this morning, and must win five times to win the tournament.
In the win over the Lady Savages, the Lady Wolves scored twice in the sixth inning to rally for the win.
In the loss to Wright City, the Lady Lumberjax rallied from an 8-2 deficit to take an 11-8 lead in the sixth inning.
In Howe's loss Thursday afternoon, the Lady Lions took a 1-0 lead on Whitney Johnson's RBI double, but then the Eagles scored three times in their half of the frame for a 3-1 lead after one.
After Kaylee Coffey's RBI single cut the Howe deficit to 3-2 in the second inning, the Eagles put the game away with a six-run second inning and a five-run third inning to end the game by run rule.
Howe played Hugo in an elimination game on Friday.
Keota 10, Arkoma 0: Thursday afternoon in Keota, the Lady Lions broke a scoreless tie with a three-run third inning and a seven-run fourth inning.
The Lady Mustangs had only two hits, a single apiece by Shaylea Whisenhunt and Jessica Pryor.
Editor's Note — Bokoshe's game at home against Kinta did not take place due to lack of players. No make-up date has been set.
