The perfect season for the Poteau Lady Pirates is no more.
The Tahlequah Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Pirates 9-1 Monday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers, the top-ranked team in the OK Rankings Class 5A Poll, broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fourth inning. Then, they added five runs in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh inning. Poteau did not make things easy on itself as the Lady Pirates committed six errors, making only five of the runs earned.
Wister 13, Gans 0: In Wister, the Lady Wildcats got the first win of the season.
The Lady ’Cats jumped out to a 5-0 lead after an inning, then added eight more runs in the second inning.
Talihina 9, Heavener 5: In Talihina, the Lady Golden Tigers broke a 3-3 tie with a three-run second inning and a single run in the fourth inning for a 7-3 lead after four innings.
Cameron 9, McCurtain 7: In Cameron, the Lady Yellowjackets won for the second time this season.
After the Lady Bulldogs tied the game at 7-7 in the top of the sixth inning, the Lady ’Jackets scored twice in their half of the frame — keyed by Cindy Hicks' RBI single — to take a 9-7 lead after six innings.
Whitesboro 16, Panola 0: In Whitesboro, the Lady Bulldogs got their first win of the season. So, too, did Whitesboro freshman pitcher Lexey Branscum as she threw a one-hitter with four Ks.
Talihina 3, Latta 0: Saturday at Healdton Festival, after a wild pitch produced Talihina's first run in the opening inning, Miriam McCurtain's RBI single and Ashlee Long's sacrifice fly in the second inning made it 3-0.
In the top of the third inning, the rains came and washed out not only the game, but the entire event.
