Hodgen girls, Monroe boys reach ORES State Tournament semifinals; Hodgen boys, Fanshawe, Monroe girls suffer opening-round tournament losses

SHAWNEE — Two LeFlore County junior high teams, the Hodgen Lady Bulldogs and the Monroe Eagles, made it to Friday night's semifinals of the 2013 Organization of Rural Elementary Schools State Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Moffett 31-29 Thursday at St. Gregory's University to advance to Friday night's Division II semifinals against El Reno Darlington with the winner playing for the state title at 12:40 p.m. at St. Gregory's University.
The Eagles soared past Hulbert Shady Grove 59-55 Thursday at Shawnee Middle School to make it to Friday night's Division IV semifinals against Bearden. The winner will advance to the state title game at 2 this afternoon at St. Gregory's University.
Three other county teams all suffered opening-round losses.
The Hodgen Bulldogs lost 39-20 to Stilwell Zion on Thursday at St. Gregory's University in the Division II State Tournament.
In the Division IV State Tournament at Shawnee Middle School, the Fanshawe Lady Grizzlies fell 36-17 to Wickliffe, while the Monroe Lady Eagles suffered a 40-34 loss to Swink.
Former Arkoma Middle School player Cianna Titsworth and her McAlester Tannehill girls team suffered a 45-11 loss to Stilwell Rocky Mountain on Thursday in the Division III State Tournament at Seminole State College.
