Hoops, wildlife rule changes on the forefront this week
This is LeFlore County Junior High Tournament week, and the Wister boys and girls are having a good week so far. Both teams are in the semifinals Friday night and both will be playing Spiro. If you get a chance come on out and watch these kids play. Also, look for daily coverage of the event in the Poteau Daily News, thanks to sports editor David Seeley and correspondent Jim Marsh.• • •This week is the last chance to comment on the proposed rule changes by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Convservation. The change I have heard the most chatter about is the number of bucks that will be allowed during the hunting season. If the rule change goes into effect, a person will only be able to take one buck during gun and primitive arms combined. So, if a person shoots a good buck during primitive arms, you will have three doe days you can hunt out of the 16-day gun season. The proposal would allow two bucks to be taken during the year, but only one during gun and primitive combined. If you would like to comment on this, you have to hurry because the comment period ends Friday. You can comment on the wildlife department’s website, www.odwc.state.ok.us.Have a great week!• • •E-mail questions or comments to email@example.com.
