CROWDER — Two LeFlore County basketball teams, the Howe Lions and the Wister Lady Wildcats kept their seasons alive — at least for one more day — at the Class 2A Regional Tournament.
The Lions held off the Porter Consolidated Pirates 51-49, while a fourth-quarter rally lifted the Lady ’Cats to a 50-44 win over the host Crowder Demonettes.
The Lions (20-8) will play the loser of Thursday night's Haworth-Vanoss game at 3 this afternoon in Crowder in the consolation semifinals. This afternoon's winner will play for the consolation finals here at 3 p.m. Saturday for a berth in next week's Class 2A Area Tournament at the Wilburton High School gym.
The Lady Wildcats (12-16) will meet the loser of Thursday night's Colbert-Silo game at 1:30 this afternoon in the regional consolation semifinals. Colbert is coached by former Talihina boys coach Chris Gillespie. Today's winner will play for the consolation championship, and a berth at the area tournament, here at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
