CAMERON — The Arkoma Lady Mustangs softball team was on the cusp of history, winning its first-ever fast-pitch softball district title. They needed only one win to do it, but the Howe Lady Lions also wanted it and clawed their way to two victories to get it.
Facing elimination all day Thursday in the Class A District Tournament, the Lady Lions had to beat the Lady Mustangs twice to win the district title, and that's exactly what they did, winning by scores of 5-2 and 6-2.
The Lady Lions (16-11) will find out on Monday where and with whom they will be with at next week's Class A Regional Tournament.
The Lady Mustangs end the season at 10-12.
