Howe girls, Wister boys reach regional title games tonight in Ada; Panama, Wister girls, Pocola boys in must-win situations; seasons end for Lady Indians, Lions

HOWE — Two LeFlore County high school basketball teams punched their tickets to tonight's Class 2A Regional Tournament title games at Ada High School's Cougar Activity Center — and assured themselves of a trip to next week's Class 2A Area Tournament at the new Wilburton Gym.
The Howe Lady Lions defeated the Panama Lady Razorbacks 58-25, while the Wister Wildcats got past the Pocola Indians 49-40 Thursday night at the Howe Gym.
The Lady Lions (25-1) will play Amber-Pocasset at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Cougar Activity Center for the regional title, while the ’Cats (19-7) will meet Haworth right after at 8 p.m. for the boys' championship. All four teams will advance to the area tournament.
Three other county teams were in playoff-survival mode Friday, and possible today if they won on Friday.
The Lady Razorbacks (12-11) faced Haworth Friday afternoon in Ada, with the winner playing for the consolation championship — and a trip to the area tournament — at 1:30 p.m. today, also in Ada.
The Wister Lady Wildcats kept their season alive Thursday afternoon as they eliminated the Pocola Lady Indians with a 52-49 win. The Lady ‘Cats (12-14) played Rattan Friday night in Ada, with the winner playing for the consolation championship this afternoon in Ada.
Pocola's girls end the season at 7-16.
The Indians (20-5) faced Rattan Friday afternoon in Ada, with the winer playing the Gore/Amber-Pocasset winner at 3 p.m. this afternoon in Ada for the consolation championship — and a trip to Wilburton for the area tournament.
Besides the Lady Indians, one other county team saw its season end as the Howe Lions lost a heartbreaking 59-56 game to the Gore Pirates Thursday afternoon at the Howe Gym. The Lions end the season at 18-9.
