Howe, Spiro boys, Panama, Wister girls advance to today's fifth-place games; Hodgen, Pocola boys as well as Arkoma, Whitesboro girls reach consolation title games

This afternoon's fifth-place games are set for the 2012 LeFlore County Junior High Tournament after Thursday's games at both Poteau High School's Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse and Pansy Kidd Middle School.
At Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse, the Howe Lions held off the Panama Razorbacks 24-23, while the Spiro Bulldogs got past the Talihina Golden Tigers 47-32. The Lions and the Bulldogs will meet at 3:45 p.m. this afternoon at Carl Albert State College's Mick Thompson Fieldhouse for fifth place.
At PKMS, the Panama Lady Razorbacks got past the Heavener Lady Wolves 37-28, then the Wister Lady Wildcats defeated the Bokoshe Lady Tigers 36-25. The Lady ’Backs and the Lady ’Cats will meet for fifth place at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon at CASC.
The Hodgen Bulldogs, the Pocola Indians, the Arkoma Lady Mustangs and the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs made it to Friday night's consolation championship games at PKMS.
Thursday at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse, the Indians edged the Arkoma Mustangs 24-23, while the Bulldogs rallied to down the Leflore Savages 33-24. At PKMS, the Lady Mustangs got past the Pocola Lady Indians 36-25, while the Lady Bulldogs got past the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers 26-23.
The championship and third-place games will be today and tonight at CASC. On the boys' side, the Pansy Kidd Middle School-Heavener winner will meet the Cameron-Wister winner at 8:45 p.m. tonight to see who wins the gold, while the losers will play for third place at 6:15 p.m.
On the girls' side, the PKMS-Spiro winner and the Hodgen-Howe winner will play for the championship at 7:30 p.m. tonight, while the losers will meet to decide third place at 5 p.m.
