WILBURTON â€” The Howe High School basketball teams have a chance to sweep blue bracket championships tonight at the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic.
The Lions corralled the Arkoma Mustangs 68-37, while the Lady Lions clawed the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs 42-15 in championship semifinals Thursday night at EOSC's Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse.
The news wasn't as good for three other teams. The Bokoshe Lady Tigers suffered their first loss of the season as they fell 46-43 to the Gans Lady Grizzlies in the other blue bracket championship semifinal Thursday afternoon at EOSC.
Both Leflore teams came up short on the day. The Savages lost 52-48 to the McCurtain Bulldogs in a gold boys championship semifinal, while the Lady Savages fell 46-9 to the Cave Springs Lady Hornets in the gold bracket consolation semifinals.
The Bokoshe Tigers (0-5) suffered their third straight defeat by forfeit due to lack of players, forfeiting their gold bracket consolation semifinal to Battiest to drop into Friday afternoon's seventh-place game against the Gans-Pittsburg loser.
Two county teams, the Arkoma Lady Mustangs and the Whitesboro Bulldogs, played their championship semifinals on Friday. The Arkoma-Pittsburg winner will play the Red Oak-Clayton winner at 5:10 this afternoon at EOSC for the gold bracket title, while the losers will play for third place at 11:50 this morning at EOSC.
The Savages will play for third place at 1:10 this afternoon at EOSC against the loser of Friday night's Buffalo Valley-Red Oak game.
The Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs will play the Lady Hornets at 10:30 this morning at the Wilburton High School Gym for the consolation title of the gold bracket.
The Lady Savages will meet Buffalo Valley at 4 this afternoon at the WHS Gym for the consolation championship of the gold bracket.
The Lady Lions will play the Lady Grizzlies at 7:50 tonight at EOSC for the blue bracket title, while the Lady Tigers and the Lady Bulldogs will play for third place at 2:30 this afternoon at EOSC.
The Lions will meet the Cave Springs-Whitesboro winner at 9:10 tonight at EOSC for the blue bracket title, while the Mustangs will play the Cave Springs-Whitesboro loser at 3:50 this afternoon for third place.
