I love you, man!
A few years ago, Jeff “Jedi” Dennis and Ed Sockey were working somewhere in Tennessee. They would call me every other day just to check in, and see how I was and what was happening back in good ol' Poteau. I could tell they were homesick — I knew they were going to be. I get all beside myself when I get out of LeFlore County!Anyway, they would always tell me, “I love you,” before they hung up the phone. Now, I would always go outside or to another bedroom and whisper it back so my wife, Jenny, or anyone else for that matter, couldn't hear me. I was embarrassed to tell my friends, “I love you.”Pastor Bryan Fields is always telling us that it's OK to tell another guy that you love them. But for me, it was a little hard just to blurt that out in front of anybody. Then one day, I'm fishing with Danny “The Doctor of” Love at Lake Eufaula when my phone starts ringing. Guess who? That's right, “Jedi” and Ed, a.k.a., “The He-Man Twins.”We visit and before I hang up, I go to the back of the boat and whisper, “I love you, too!”Danny asks, “Who was that? Jenny or Joni Kay (my daughter)? I confessed that it was Ed. You should have seen the look on Danny's face! Now, when I hang up the phone, he always asks me, “Is that Ed calling?”But one afternoon, everything changed. Rusty White was leaving and heading home when he got up and gave the late “Hoot” Jackson a big ol' hug, and he said, “I love you, man!” “Hoot” told him that he loved him, too. I felt like I was free! I could tell another guy, “I love you,” and not feel embarrassed. It's funny how guys are, but sometimes your friends may need to know that you love them and care for them! It's not that embarrassing anymore.Thank you, Rusty and “Hoot.”Save the world, recycle.God bless our troops and veterans.Have a great weekend.— — —Any questions or pictures, make contact with Jody Ray Adams on Facebook, on the “Jody Ray Fishing Hotline” at (918) 649-7387 or email to email@example.com.
