Icy roads cause multiple accidents; road closures

LeFlore County roads are becoming treacherous as precipitations falls with temperatures below freezing.
Most all roads in the mountainous area in the southern portion of the county are closed, according to the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department. U.S. Highway 59 from the Page intersection south to the county line, roads leading to and from Talihina, Oklahoma Highway 63 and 144 are all considered closed due to ice.
On the north end of the county the sheriff's department is reporting hazardous roads from the Oklahoma Highway 112 and old Oklahoma Highway 112 intersection north to the county line as well as from Panama north.
Multiple accidents have been reported in Cameron, Pocola, Spiro and Sunset Corner area.
If you don't have to travel, police are urging you to stay off the roads.
According to Emergency Management, the conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day.
Poteau police have not reported any ice forming on the roads as of 11 a.m. and temperatures remaining above freezing.
