The LeFlore County Bass Club had its last tournament of the 2013 circuit Sunday at Wards Landing on Wister Lake. There were 24 boats of anglers who caught 82 bass that had a cumulative weight of 202.75 pounds. Each fish averaged 2.47 pounds, and 11 limits were caught.
Don't freak out when you read this folks, but I and Bruce Vincent came out on top with 17.2 pounds caught to earn $525, and that included my big bass winner of 5.59 pounds to earn an additional $210.
Joey Chitwood and Tony Parker were second (14.6 pounds, $315), while Jesse Patton was third (13.49, $210). Rounding out the top five were Keith Griffith and Gary Steelman (13.02) and Danny Love and Melvin McKay (12.92).
Gary Skelton had the second-place big bass with a 5.31-pounder, while Jason Wickware was third (5.05 pounds).
The water was clear, and in all the bushes. The fish bit well all day long. We got a few bigger bites, and won!
Save the world, recycle.
God bless our troops and veterans.
Have a great weekend this weekend, and a happy and safe Fourth of July and following weekend.
