It’s hard to believe that spring seasons are over
It is just me, or does it seem like this spring seasons of baseball and slow-pitch softball flew by faster than the Concorde. It just seems like yesterday I was preparing the 2013 Spring Sports Guide for publication over spring break, and now all the seasons are done. However, the end to them was rather nice. You had the Poteau Pirates soccer team winning state, along with Poteau Lady Pirate golfer Hannah Ward for her second straight season. You had both Poteau golf teams and Cameron’s Kody Whitehead make state as did the Spiro Bulldogs baseball team. Several local tracksters and Poteau tennis player Skylar Abbott also made state. So, needless to say, spring 2013 was a memorable one.Someone Want to Share Memories about Bob Deleplank?Earlier this month, longtime Poteau Little League coach Bob Deleplank passed. We thought that there might be some individuals out there who was touched by having Bob as a coach, or even some pleasant memories of playing for him.Like sports correspondent Jim Marsh did earlier this year when Poteau High School legendary coach Sherman Floyd passed, I’m asking if there is anyone who would like to share such memories about Bob.Please send your memories to firstname.lastname@example.org or even Facebook message them to me. You can also come by our office at 804 North Broadway, or mail them to me at P.O. Box 1237, Poteau, OK 74953.In ClosingWith today’s column, this will end the 2013 spring season of Diamond Notes. I’ll be back in August when the 2013 fast-pitch softball and fall baseball seasons commence.Until then, may all your bases be filled and pitches be strikes. I wish you a happy summer break, and see you in August.
