It has been a great ride, and I am glad you came along

FIRST BUCK — Cameron's Whitley Russell harvested her first buck, a five-pointer, this past rifle season with her .223 rifle while hunting with her father, Bill. Photo Submtited by Ann Russell

I have been writing this column for the last 8.5 years, and I have enjoyed every moment. The numbers of kids’ pictures that have appeared have made for countless numbers of smiles for moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends — not to mention all the newspaper clippings that have been added to scrapbooks and photograph albums in homes all across the county.
I am telling you this because all good things must come to an end. Due to some changes at the Poteau Daily News, I regret to say that this will be my last regular weekly column. I fully intend to write some from time to time in the future. Hopefully, I will be able to write a few times during the fishing season, during turkey season and, of course, deer season so I can get more kids in the paper.
Editor's note: Look for the latest “Outdoors with Jody Ray” column by Jody Adams in a later edition.
