NORMAN — For Oklahoma Sooners fans who were in attendance at Saturday's Senior Day home finale against Iowa State at Owen Field, I'm sure they might have been getting a bit worried as the first half wore on, despite all being well with a 48-10 victory.
For most of the opening 30 minutes of action, OU trailed. In fact, the “play” which seemed to draw the most fanfare in the opening half wasn't even a football play. It was when Army National Guard 1st Sgt. David Brian Curtis, OU's “Patriot Fan of the Game” surprised his family by riding out on the Boomer Schooner to reunite with his Eufaula family. Curtis arrived from Afghanistan on Thursday and stayed in a Norman/Oklahoma City hotel until surprising his family, who were watching a video tribute he made a short time before arriving back in Oklahoma.
