Iva Mae Smith

Iva Mae Smith, 74, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011.She was born May 16,1937, near Rush Center, Kan., toCalvin and Elma Kershner. She was preceded in death byher parents, one brother, Aryln, and two sons, Craig andKyle.She is survived by her husband of 54 years, MartinSmith; one granddaughter, Jagan Smith; daughter-in-law,Teresa Smith of Wister; one sister, Betty Bishop ofOklahoma City; two brothers, Duane of Roca Blanc,Mexico, and Steve of Bowling Green, Ohio.She was a beautician and owned and operated her ownsalon for 20 years. For 35 years she co-labored with herLord and Savior Jesus Christ. She served in churches, wasPast President of Western Kansas Women’s Aglow, waslicensed to marry and conducted many funerals. She wrotea book, “Victory Over Grief,” and a teaching syllabus,“Healing the Broken Hearted to Become Trees ofRighteousness.” For 17 consecutive years she traveled toRoca Blanca to teach and counsel with students at VictoryLatin America Outreach Mission Base, founded by herbrother, Duane Kershner. She was a teacher, mentor, counselorand a spiritual mother to many. This was her life andpassion.A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Harvest Time Tabernacle,3100 Briar Cliff, Ave., Fort Smith, Ark.
