J. Wilbert Adams, 93, of Wister, died Friday, June 21, 2013, in Belton, Texas. J. was born May 22, 1920 in Dardanelle, Ark., to Robert and Bertha (Merrell) Adams. He was the owner-operator of Wister Lumberyard. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Adams; son, Don Adams; daughter, Betty Adams; and siblings, David and Willard Adams, Lois Woods, Doris Marler.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Ginger Adams of Wister; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Gutierrez of Belton, Reah and George Maynor of Wister, Linda and Garry Skinner of Poteau; 10 grandchildren, Kristi Hill, Kevin Adams, Jerrod Adams, Robert Gutierrez, Amanda Goude, Chris Adams, Dustin Adams, Bradley Adams, Brian Maynor and Bruce Maynor; 14 great -grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Loyd Adams of Oklahoma City, Danny and Pat Adams of Newcastle; other relatives and loved ones.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 24, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with the Rev. Brad Hill officiating. Burial will be in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister. Pallbearers will be Christopher, Bradley, Dustin, Kevin, and Jerrod Adams, Brian and Bruce Maynor and Robert Gutierrez.
