Jack Dempsey Duncan, 93, of Poteau, formerly of Heavener, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, in Pocola.
Dempsey, a longtime area resident, was born Jan. 7., 1919, in Watts to Albert and Magnolia Parmallee â€śNoleâ€ť (Rhodes) Duncan. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Heavener, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and retied after 40 years as a KCS Railroad engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reta Faye (Bowen) Duncan; and son, Norris Lee Duncan.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby J. Duncan of Kansas City, Mo., and Gerald E. Duncan of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Nola Mae Graham of Fresno, Calif., and Bertha Bouyer of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; a brother, Donald Duncan of Heavener; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends at Dowden Funeral Home in Heavener from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, April 12. Services will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Heavener.
