Jailbirds seeking bail for MDA

July 17, 2013

Poteau Chief of Police Stephen Fruen has been jailed and can only be released of his posts bail in the amount of $800 payable to the Muscular Dystrophy Association as part of their jailbird fundraiser.

Some members of the Poteau area business community have been arrested today for having big hearts.
They are volunteering to be “arrested and serve time” in a mock jail at Holiday Inn Express to raise money for the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The “jailbirds” turn themselves in at the Holiday Inn Express in Poteau. At the event, the “jailbirds” had their mug shot taken and were sentenced to “raise bail” by calling friends and family and encouraging contributions to advance MDA’s lifesaving programs. While they were raising their bail, the jailbirds feasted on “gourmet bread and water” provided by KFC in Poteau.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat neuromuscular diseases through worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education.
