James E. Crawford, 62, a longtime resident of Caddo, died in Durant on Monday, May 28, 2012. He was born in Poteau to Glen and Truda (Halpain) Crawford on March 2, 1950. James married Mattie Cleo â€śCookieâ€ť Helton in Poteau on June 14, 1969.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Blue River Fellowship Church in Caddo. James had a great personality and enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with old friends and family. He loved being outdoors and would go camping and hunting whenever possible. James especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, and playing with his dog â€śPatches.â€ť
James is survived by his wife, Cookie, of the home; sons, Wesley Crawford and Cody Crawford and wife, Bonnie, all of Caddo; daughters, Serena Price and husband, Alan, and Rachel Greenwood and husband, Robert, all of Caddo; grandchildren, Jeff Dean of Savannah, Ga., Corey Price of Tushka, Nathan Price of Coalgate, Tyler Price of Coalgate, and Dylan Crawford, Jim Bob Crawford, Steven Crawford, Brooke Crawford, Colton Price, Cady Crawford and Raleigh Greenwood, all of Caddo; sister, Ann Viqneaux and husband, Randy, of Pryor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at the First Baptist Church in Caddo with Bro. Mack Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo. Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Crawford, Wesley Crawford, Alan Price, Robert Greenwood, Ken Barfield and Billy Boyston. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Owen, Utah Nation, Gary Romine, Paul Dickson, Clarence Haney, Gary Pugh and Jim Baker.
