James Haskin files notice to appeal conviction

James Haskin Jr., 61, has filed a notice of appeal in his conviction in nine counts of child neglect and three counts of child sexual abuse.

James Haskin Jr., 61, of Monroe, has filed a notice to appeal his sentence of more than two centuries after being convicted for sex crimes against his children.
Haskin was convicted by a jury on nine counts of child neglect and three counts of child sexual abuse.
In February, District Judge Jon Sullivan followed the jury's suggested sentencing and gave Haskin 245 years in prison.
Haskin, through his attorney, Brecken Wagner of the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, filed notice with the District Court of LeFlore County and the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals his intent to appeal his conviction.
The grounds of the appeal have not been made public yet nor has a court date been set for the appellate court to hear the case.
