Jean Mixon, 88, of Shady Point died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, in Shady Point. Jean was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Jenny Lind, Ark., to Robert Lee and Fannie (Carpenter) Kiger. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mixon; her parents; five brothers, Royce, Floyd, Sam, Richard (Bob) and Jacky; four sisters, Melvina Thompson, Margie Garrett, Islrea Jordan, Cordy Sherfield Fletcher; and granddaughter, Angela Smith Stacey
Survivors include her sons, Johnny and Midge Mixon of Shady Point, Jay and Kathleen Mixon of Stillwater; daughters, Janet and Leroy Smith, Joyce Mixon and Tony Matney of Shady Point; grandchildren, Angie Allen of Las Vegas, Nev., Wendy Martin of Poteau, Don Smith of Craig, Colo., Megan Robinson, Robert Mixon and Tim Mixon of Stillwater, Scott Martin of Little Rock, Ark., Kayleigh Martin of Dallas, Randall Martin and Alex Martin of Poteau; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Katy Beth Robinson of Stillwater, Anna Marie Waldron of Baggs, Wyo., Chelsie and Kali Smith of Craig, Shannon Allen and Cheyanne Allen of Las Vegas; 1 great-great-grandchild, Gavin Waldron of Baggs; brother, Jerry Kiger of Bakersfield, Calif.; other relatives and loved ones. 
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at First Baptist Church in Shady Point with the Revs. Larry Matthiesen and Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in Shady Point Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerry Hawkins, Robert Martin, Leroy Smith, Don Smith, Billy Thompson, Floyd Sherfield, Tony Matney.
The family will visit with relatives and friends at Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
