Johnathen Thacker pleads guilty, escapes death penalty

April 4, 2014

Johnathen Thacker

Johnathen Don James Edward Thacker pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder, escaping a possible death sentence for the 2010 slaying of 22-year-old Briana Ault.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors accepted a sentence of life without parole for Thacker and dropped a forcible sodomy charge against him.
Thacker's brother, Elvis Aaron Thacker, 26, still faces trial and a potential death sentence in the case.
The Arkansas brothers were charged in September 2010 after the Fort Smith, Ark., woman's body was found in Pocola.
