J.T. Smith, 83, of Poteau died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, in Poteau. J.T. was born in Sugar Loaf on Jan. 31, 1929, to Finis and Hestor (McMillian) Smith. J.T. was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was a truck driver. J.T. was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thurell Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Nina of the home; stepson, John Terry of Mojave, Calif.; three step-grandchildren, Rhonda Terry, Jenna Terry and Justin Terry; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in Vaughn Cemetery, Gilmore.
