Jury finds Akin guilty; suggests life in prison

A two day trial ended Tuesday afternoon when the jury returned a guilty verdict against John Thomas Akin for robbery. Akin was found guilty of entering the El Soliceto store in Heavener in April 2012 and robbing the clerk at gun point. The jury deliberated for less than 30 minutes before returning it's verdict. The jury suggested a life sentence.Assistant District Attorney Margaret Nicholson prosecuted the case. Akin was defended by Poteau attorney Doug Schmuck. Akin will be sentenced at a later date.
