I've been at Kiamichi Baptist Assembly [KBA] Camp in Talihina with Double Branch Baptist Church's youth group this week. I was one of the sponsors and the event co-ordinator.
As you can imagine, all of those kids wanted to do everything. So, we signed up for every sport and activity offered for the week.
Among the activities offered was a “rope challenge course” with a giant swing as well as ziplining and the dreaded “Leap of Faith.” The “Leap of Faith” is a 25-foot long pole that you climb up and have to jump off and try to grab a flag about 10 feet away from you.
“Bungee” Barbara Billy is all suited up and says she wants to try. She races up the pole faster than I did. She gets to the top. To the surprise of all of us, she gets one foot up on top of the pole. She sits there for a few seconds and yells, “I'm gonna try now before my legs give out,” and leaps. She flies through the air and grabs the yellow flag.
In last week's column, one of the young persons with a fish was misidentified. Her name is Maddy Ramsey. The Poteau Daily News regrets the error.
Save the world, recycle.
God bless our troops and our veterans.
Have a great weekend.
