Keota girls stun Howe, while Panama Lady ’Backs get past Arkoma in GVC Tournament; champions will be crowned Saturday night

ARKOMA — The first Green Valley Conference Tournament had its first major upset Thursday night at the Arkoma Gym.
In a battle of Lady Lions, Keota shocked Howe in a 74-44 victory in one of Thursday night’s semifinals.
Keota will play Panama at 7 p.m. Saturday in the title game as the Lady Razorbacks were able to get past the host Arkoma Lady Mustangs 55-44 in Thursday night’s final game.
Howe and Arkoma will battle for third place at 3 p.m. Saturday.
This afternoon’s consolation championship matchup is set as McCurtain will play Wister at noon. The Lady Wildcats bounced back from a scoreless second period to down the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets 45-32. The loss eliminated the Lady ’Jackets from the tournament.
Friday’s action involved the boys as Wister and Howe played in one championship semifinal, with Cameron and McCurtain in the other. The winners will play for the title at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, while the losers will battle for third place at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Keota and Panama played in the lone boys consolation semifinal Friday afternoon, with the winner meeting Arkoma for the consolation championship at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
