The Kingfisher ’Jackets let a 4-0 lead evaporate in Tuesday's opening-round 5-4, seven-inning loss to the Shawnee Muck Dogs to begin the 2011 OK Kids Midget State Tournament at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
The ’Jackets made sure another lead didn't evaporate on Wednesday afternoon — but it wasn't easy.
Kingfisher had a 10-2 lead after three innings, but had to hang on for dear life to defeat the Elk City Brown Sox 11-8 to stay alive in the tournament.
The ’Jackets (46-10) will play the Tushka Tigers at 4 p.m. this afternoon in another elimination game, while the loss ends the season for the Brown Sox (47-9).
